Screen touch technology is now everywhere . We find them in our phones , tabs , laptops , smart boards , ATMs , supermalls etc. But have you ever thought how it works ?
There are two types of touch screens - Resistive and Capacitive .
There are two types of touch screens - Resistive and Capacitive .
Resistive
Resistive touch screens were used in older mobile phones like Micromax , Samsung , HTC etc. It was a new kind of technology at that time . But it was too slow and was not so sensitive . People started thinking that it was not worth using it , the keypad one was good . In the resisitive screen touch there are two layers of screens . There is one main and a normal layer . There is a gap between these two layers . When you touch them hard enough you can feel that the screen is bending . In this , the two screens come in contact and make a touch . The touch gets identified by the coordinates of the screen (the four edges of the screen) and the touch is executed then . It sometimes also dont work or they are not so accurate . They consume a lot of power also . We need a pressure to work on this . These are used in ATM and other supermarkets . It has some advantages like it does not get affected by the outer temperature , because there is a protective sheet in outerside .

Capacitive
Our body is a good conductor of electricity . We can either take or give charge . In capacitive touch screens there is a conductive layer . This is very fast as compared to resistive ones . They are compact. Whenever we make a touch the software in the system identfies it and executes the touch . It is very advanced thats why it can be used only by the hands . Yes , there are alternatives like stylus but they need to be conductive so they can be used . Unlike resistive touch screens we cant make the touch through anything . There are two main types of capacitive touch screens - surface and projective. Surface capacitive gets used when a touch is made and is sensed by the corners of the screen . But projective capacitive uses rows and columns and a different chip to sense any touch made .
Nowadays we can see that the use of capacitive touch screen is done in plenty . It has many good advantages . But technicians are working on developing it also . There may be touches with feels . For example if you are watching a live cricket match then you can feel the advertising boards , the pitch , the bowl etc. (rumored)
So this is all the knowledge I had . It is not copied knowledge, its my knowledge thats why it is called AnupKnowledge .
