PCB or Printed Circuit Board explained !! How CPU is made ?

Nowadays we all want compact and slim designs . We never want some load on us ! And for making things slim and compact PCBs or Printed Circuit Boards Help us . PCB has a lot of value nowadays , almost 80 - 85 % of electronics are made up of it . PCB looks something very advanced and clean . Think if instead of using PCB if we used wires and soldering machine to connect the the components . It would look like a giant mess ! Because it becomes difficult to make a board with a lot of connections with wires . A lot of space is taken and sometimes due to confusion defect comes in wiring also . This type of wiring was done in the old electronics . But now to make things simple PCBs have come . Now lest us know how they work !

The PCB is the board on which all the components of a electronics are situated . It helps in connecting components . It arranges things in a very small space . Slices of fibre glass are stacked on one other . They are sticked to each other to make a slab . Then a sheet of copper is laid (on the both sides if needed) . Then it is coated with a chemical called Photoresist . Then a pattern which is of the design made by the engineers is placed on the top . This the trace of everything that must be on the top of the PCB . Then this wholoe thing is exposed to UV(Ultraviolet) light . Then this board is washed and the unecessary copper is took out . It leaves the area where the traces were there . This process is called etching . The copper works as wires or connectors . These tracks serve as a  base and make an image that how the PCB would look in short the circuit is printed on it !

The boards are then made into a perfect PCB by connecting all the components , making connections for smaller elements like chips and capacitors , resistors are also used . PCB is nothing but a board where a lot of connections are made between the components to be used . We see that mobile phones are ompact and slim nowadays as they have PCB where all its components are placed . The copper tracks in PCB are very important . These tracks are designed in a way that they are connected to each other in quirky way . They are turned in a unusual way . But they are never in 90 degree angle . There is a reason behind that . It is done to match the length . Time also is kept in mind while designing them so that the signals can reach the destination in correct time . And all the tracks connected to a particular component form same pattern . The length and width is also kept in mind . And the 90 degree wires are not used because it can affect the radio frequency and can also be broken or it can take more space on the board . So the space is managed equally and intelligently while designing PCB .

There are many different types of PCBs . Single Layer PCBs , Double Layer PCBs and Multi Layer PCBs . In single Layer PCBs there is only one layer where circuit is present . In double layer PCBs circuit is present in both the sides of the base . There are also some multi layer PCBs where a lot of layers are stacked and wiring is done in outside inside and within the PCB . Here a big circuit is made only in a small place .

CPU is the brain of our computer as well as our mobile . The CPU has the motherboard where all kind of processes takes place . Here the main thing is sand . First sand is heated a lot and chemically purified to produce silicon . Silicon is used as base because of its ability to accept ions (to be discussed further). Purification is very important as things like transisitors are getting more and more smaller nowadays and the manufacturers need most in one processor . The silicon is cut into wafers and it is polished and a chemical is applied  . After it Ultraviolet light is shined on it . Then it is washed with a solvent and the exposed area is dissolved by it . It leaves some patterns and then they are covered with ions which embed themselves to the silicon and effect their electricity conductivity which create transistors that allow current to move in one direction . This makes the CPU get your instructions . Then these transistors are connected so they perform the functions well .
There are some tiny wires that are applied to these transistors through the etching process . There connectivity depends upon the architecture provided by the engineers . They are designed in such a way that no defect takes place .
