History of laptops !!

Nowadays we all are familiar with laptops . They are just advanced , updated , portable PCs . These laptops never directly came in the way they are now . There was a evolution of these laptops . And all this contained great ideas of innovations . Do you know about this evolution or the history of laptops ? Let us discover it !

First of all , 'In the history of laptops' In the year 1968 a computer scientist named Alan Kay introduced a concept of Dynabook . It was a concept which introduced it as a eReader and for the educational purpose of children . This Dynabook was never manufactured or broght into the real world . After the establishment of this concept the many popular companies at that time like IBM worked for laptops . In the year 1975 in September , IBM 5100 which was a 53 pound huge portable laptop with a 5 inch display and capable of displaying 1024 characters . It was huge so to carry it a bag or case was also provided by the company . And guess what..it was priced at 9,000 dollars , which is too much . It was said that it was a combination of the CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) and a big case of components .

Then in April 1981 Adam Osborne developed  the Osborne I . It was lighter and was cheaper than the IBM 5001 , weighing almost 25 pounds and priced at 1800 dollars . It was also portable . But in the year 1983 a big evolution of a compact laptop was done . With the introduction of Grid Compass and TRS-80-Model-100 by Radio Shack . TRS-80-Model-100 was manufactured and was sold in Japan . But the Grid Compass showed better things a replacement of the CRT display but was priced 8000 dollars . It weighed nearly 11 pounds . It had a display of 320 by 240 pixel . It actually became very compact as compared to the earlier versions . It also used solid storage . In 1984 another laptop by Commodre called Commodre SX-64 in 1984 . It had a full coloured display and weighed about 20 ponds and was priced at 995 dollars .

In 1988 , NEC Ultralight was introduced . It was considered to be a notebook because of it weight of 4 pounds and its thichness of just 4 inches . Nearly in October 1991 , Apple launched its Powerbook 100 which was their second portable laptop after Macintosh Portable . It was ahead on features than any other laptops . Apple also introduced trackball on this version of laptops whihc helped in pointing things on the screen . In the year 1992 IBM launched its ThinkPad which had great features . They had a webcam , OLED screen and also had touchbar . They later on became the first laptop to be used in space . And after it in 1994 they introduced in built touchpad or which they called 'trackpads' in laptops . Then in the next year in 1995 Windows launched its 95 vesion . Windows 95 offered a lot of useful functions required by the laptops which they were lacking .

As you know Apple is known for its innovatipons likewise it introduced Apple iBook in 1999 with in built Wi-Fi in it which was the first ever . It had a very funky and advanced design . It also had a HD screen . And also had a solid storage device with a great graphic processing . Then in 2002 Toshiba introduced Toshiba Portege 2000 . It targeted  to the people wanting thin and lightweight designs . It was also said that it was so thin that it was lesser than a inch! In the next year Toshiba Portege M100 was introduced . It weighed 5.3 pounds and had a removable DVD/ROM drive . In this way this evolution was taking place . And all the laptops introduced after this phase were very much similar where they came up with something new everytime . In the year 2007 ASUS introduced Eee PC 701 which was a business class light weight and low cost netbook . This series of laptops were actually good but they were stopped by ASUS in January 2013 because of low sale but restarted it again in 2015 . Before it in 2013 Microsoft Surface Book came out in which the display can be detached .

Nowadays laptops are becoming vey efficient and compact . Along with it the amount of features or advantages we get from it is just outstanding . Nowadays gaming laptops with a lot of high graphics processing or advanced GPU / Graphics Card . The laptops like Acer Predator 21x and ROG are very advanced and efficient . The way they are evolving is just fabulous and may overtake Desktops in the near future . Laptops are priced very high that is the biggest disadvantage there . Nowadays laptops are also coming in different variations like netbooks , tablets , splitter laptops . But the way they evolved from a box that needed a box to be carried to a premium model is excellent . This history laptops is really great !
