VAR (Video Assistant Referee)

VAR stands for Video Assistant Referee. It was used in the FIFA World Cup 2018 and this absolutely was praised a lot. This is a video technology used to assist the referees in decision making. 

They are used to keep an eye on every corner of the match and to record each thing very clearly so there will be no mistakes in decision making. The match can pause at any moment to refer to the VAR team.

EPTS(Electronic Performance and Tracking System)

EPTS is a tracking system to track the real-time match. All the data and pieces of information are sent to the teams. Every team has 3 tablets to keep track of the team's performance. One is with the analyst, one is with the analyst on the bench and the other with the medical team. This system was first introduced at the FIFA World Cup 2018.

Goal Line Technology

The Goal Line Technology is the technology where the referee can refer to the GLT team to assure if the goal is scored or not. It has helped a lot in making a decision when there is a very very near situation whether the ball has passed the goal line or not. The entire 3D coordinates of the ball are tracked to monitor whether the ball had passed the goal line or not. It was introduced in FIFA World Cup 2014.

Inside the ball, there will be a chip that allows the ball to connect with a smartphone or tablet. From these balls, the coaches can record the data and manage specific training for the players. 

Smart Shoes

Some of the shoe manufacturing brands are producing some smart shoes which use such technology where the shoes can be tracked as well as they can adapt any player's foot easily.

4K Broadcasting and VR

People can enjoy Football matches in High Definition 4K quality. This actually started in FIFA World Cup 2014 on a small scale but soon in FIFA World Cup 2018, it started to spread everywhere. At the present time, almost in all the broadcasting platform 4K broadcasting is done.

From the 2018 World Cup, the BBC has also broadcasted the matches in Virtual Reality in BBC Sport VR App.  

GPS Training Vest

Nowadays, the players are doing training wearing those vests with GPS chips to track their movements and accuracy. They are used in order to improve their performance. The vests are used to keep a check on the players' medical health and their all types of stats.
